It is simple and clear with all chemicals and procedures THERE MUST BE NO USE UNTIL IT IS SHOWN THERE IS NO RISK AND THE BURDEN OF PROOF MUST BE ON THE MANUFACTURERS AND DISTRIBUTORS
On the BBC 28/12/2000 In News On Line there was a report by Alex Kirby which stated that Airline Flight crew in several countries were saying that engine lubricants containing organo-phosphates were sometimes leaking into the cabin air supply. A British pilot was repported as saying that after a holiday he returned to flying and realized that there was something wrong with him. He was beginning to get short term memory loss and was developing a stutter. Every time he flew he got influenza-like symptoms after about half an hour of flying. He was tired and started suffering anxiety attacks. As a result he was grounded for 3 months. When he was away he recovered when he returned so did the symptoms. An Australian Pilot reported similar experiences to the programme. The secretary of the British Airline Pilots’ Association said that these highly toxic OrganoPhosphate chemicals were already associated with neurological damage in farmers and others. There are investigations by the Australian, Swedish and U.K governments. Shane Enright of the International Transport Workers Federation knows of hundreds of crew members who have complained of Organo-Phosphate problems. Just how much risk must people be exposed to before the money hungry chemical and oil companies are brought to book. Surely the burden of proof that they can be safely used should be on the rich profiteers not on the poor victims. Comcare and the employers refuse to even recognize that there is a potential problem. Do we have to wait until there are thousands of victims as there have been with Asbestosis. Wait until there are thousands of trembling Victims. Wait until the cost of compensation is so great the feral corporations give massive campaign funds to a leader of the USA who will promise to end these frivolous claims from damaged victims. There is indeed another issue for our armed services. There is a need to examine the health of our serving and ex submariners in particular. This is an environment where there is poor ventilation and potential exposure to fumes of engine oils which contain TPP & TCP. There is a real need for a survey of neurological ailments in this group of people. It is simple and clear with all chemicals and procedures THERE MUST BE NO USE UNTIL IT IS SHOWN THERE IS NO RISK AND THE BURDEN OF PROOF MUST BE ON THE MANUFACTURERS AND DISTRIBUTORS |
